'It would be a great option' - Joseph Parker v Tyson Fury fight possible, says promoter

May 8, 2018

David Higgins refused to rule out a bout between his fighter and the returning Fury.

Kiwi heavyweight Joseph Parker could find himself face to face in the ring with a familiar face in the future, with promoter David Higgins not ruling out a possible showdown with British fighter Tyson Fury.

Having recently announced his return to professional boxing after an enforced stint on the sidelines, Fury, 29, is looking to regain his status among the top contenders in heavyweight boxing.

With the pair having built a close friendship during Parker's campaign against Hughie Fury, the self proclaimed 'Gypsy King' would be a genuine option for the Kiwi to fight next, Higgins told 1 NEWS.

"Further down the track, it would be a great option," he said.

"Joseph of course beat his cousin Hughie Fury, so Tyson could avenge that.

"It would make sense for that to take place in Manchester - Tyson's home town, and sell out an arena, maybe Old Trafford."

Higgins however did say that any bout wouldn't take place in the near future, allowing Fury to properly return from his early retirement.

"Tyson Fury is on the comeback trail."

"He will take some sort of get-fit fights, I'd assume, instead of jumping straight back in with an elite heavyweight like Joseph Parker."
