Watch: 'Stop talking Eddie' - David Higgins, Eddie Hearn trade cheeky banter as Parker v Joshua conference descends into laughter

March 28, 2018

The two promoters couldn't resist verbal jabs at each other this morning.

Joseph Parker's promoter David Higgins challenged his opposite Eddie Hearn to let Anthony Joshua do the talking this morning and not to bother baiting him as he wouldn't join in the mind games.

But one quick line from the English promoter and it all went out the window.

Higgins has developed a fiery press conference reputation in the UK after he was dragged out of one in the build-up to Parker's last title defence when he clashed heads with Hughie Fury's trainer and father.

As a result, Higgins laid down a warning during this morning's conference such antics wouldn't and shouldn't take place.

"I'd like to let Eddie and Anthony know I won't take any bait from them," he said.

"I'm going to say very little today - in fact, I'm going to let Joseph Parker do most of the talking today and I challenge Eddie to let Anthony Joshua do the same.

"If Eddie comes at me trying to bait me, I'll get off the stage."

The gameplan didn't last long though, with Eddie's very next line prompting a response from the DUCO promoter.

"If your leg doesn't stop shaking I'm going to have to move!" Hearn said, getting a roar of laughter from the UK media.

"Stop talking," Higgins responded.

"We can smell the silver spoon on your breath," Higgins responded.

"There's only one thing I can smell on your breath and it's last night's activities!"

The duo laughed off the quickfire round before letting the fighters finally take over the conference.

Parker and Joshua clash in Cardiff on April 1 NZT.
