Watch: Euphoric Braden Currie embraces young son at finish line after claiming first ever NZ Ironman title

Braden Currie has held off 12-time champion Cameron Brown to win the New Zealand Ironman title in his attempt in Taupo this afternoon.

The multisport athlete beat out Brown after a hard chase to win in a time 8:20:58 – Brown finishing second 3:32 back.

The win comes after a disappointing finish for Currie earlier this year in the Coast to Coast event where he finished second to Sam Clark.

Cyril Viennot came in third.
