UFC boss raves over Israel Adesanya, again -'He's got a really bright future'

February 11, 2019

Kiwi-Nigerian fighter Israel Adesanya has earned rave reviews from UFC boss Dana White, following yesterday's victory over legendary Anderson Silva in Melbourne.

Shoehorned into UFC 234's main event at short notice by the withdrawal of Robert Whittaker, Adesanya's bout with Silva did not disappoint, with the Kiwi-Nigerian taking a unanimous decision victory over his idol.

The win was Adesanya's fifth in the UFC, taking his MMA record to 16 wins from 16 fights.

Speaking to media after yesterday's event, White didn't hold back in his appreciation of Adesanya, having previously said "I literally can't sit here and tell you enough good things about this kid."

"The kid's got it," White began. "Not only is he talented in the octagon, he's talented outside of it too.

"His interviews are exciting, he's an interesting guy, he's fun to watch and I think he's got a really bright future here."

Adesanya would have been in line to fight the winner of yesterday's planned clash between Whittaker and Kevin Gastelum, however those hopes appear to have been scuppered by the Kiwi-born Australian fighter's withdrawal.
