A syndicate of 64 women and one man hope their Filly shocks the field and takes home the big prize on Saturday in Ellerslie.

There will be a bit more pink and black than usual at Ellerslie on Saturday as the "Fun and Fascinators" syndicate cheer on Hattie Bee in New Zealand's richest race – The Karaka Million.

A syndicate of 64 women and one man, are hoping their filly shocks the field and takes home the big prize.

Started by trainer Emma-Lee Browne the boisterous bunch collectively own Karaka Million filly Hattiee Bee, drawn at six for Saturday's feature race.

Starting just one barrier wider will be Imelda Mary, the filly bought for just $3,500 by trainer and co-owner Wayne Hillis.

In comparison the average sales price for the rest of the field is about $134,000.

"When I got her I went out to the boxes afterwards had another look and thought 'there must be something wrong with it maybe it has only three legs,'" said Hillis.

He named the horse after his mother Imelda who will be at Ellerslie on Saturday.
