South Auckland teen 'excited and nervous' at the prospect of playing Black Ferns Sevens heroes

South Auckland sevens sensation, Alysia Lefau Fakaosilea, has pledged her allegiance to Australia and admits it will be a strange feeling facing off against Kiwi stars who she has dreamed of playing alongside.

The 18-year-old livewire is aiming to wear the yellow jersey at the 2020 Olympics in Japan and help the defending Olympic champions secure back-to-back golds.

"Hopefully play with the girls in the 2020 Olympics, hopefully play for Australia," said Lefau Fakaosilea.

She told 1 NEWS that she dreamed of one day playing for the Black Ferns Sevens team before she made the move to Brisbane several years ago.

"I will be excited and nervous as well (to face Black Ferns Sevens team), I will just have to focus on myself and hopefully I don't get smashed."

Lefau Fakaosilea said Black Ferns Sevens skipper Sarah Goss has always been one of her favourite players to watch on the international world sevens circuit.

Born and raised in Ōtara, Lefau Fakaosilea turned heads after her brilliant campaign at the Global Brisbane Tens women's tournament in February, where she led the Queensland Reds women's side to victory against NSW in a thrilling extra-time final.
