Portia Woodman reveals job ambitions for when her illustrious Black Ferns career comes to an end

Black Ferns Seven star Portia Woodman has revealed that she is looking to become a tradie after her professional rugby career.

The 27-year-old is out of action until August after rupturing her achilles in November for which she underwent surgery later that month.

With a long stint on the sidelines Woodman told Stuff that her father, former All Black Kawhena Woodman, inspired her take up rugby and look at a possible career as a builder.

"He was always doing something or making something," said Woodman.

She will start a building apprenticeship next month.

Woodman said it is a long road to recovery and believes she come back stronger.

"I know there's going to be a lot of work no doubt, but there is hope yet. I won't ever stop and I will just keep going until I can't," she said.

"Now I have pretty much nine months to get everything in my body right. I am going to come back better than what I was before and it excites me."
