Pole vault superstar Eliza McCartney turns pancake chef for children with cancer

January 11, 2019

The Olympic star paid a visit to Camp Quality, lending a hand in cooking breakfast.

Kiwi pole vaulter Eliza McCartney gave back to the community this morning, helping make breakfast for children battling cancer.

Stopping in at Camp Quality, an organisation that provides activities for children living with cancer, McCartney helped out by making blueberry pancakes for the kids.

The 2016 Olympic bronze medallist, who is an ambassador for Blueberries NZ, gave a short speech to the children before taking on the griddle. She also held a quick meet and greet.

"It was really good fun," McCartney said.

"There's not many people who don't like blueberries. I don't think I've met anyone who doesn't like blueberries.

"I think all the campers enjoyed it after having five days of camp. I think it was quite nice to have a little blueberries on their pancakes this morning."
