Nathan Flannery wins 5km ergo test at National Indoor Rowing Championships

Event organiser Eric Murray was keeping an eye on the current New Zealand men's team, who had an audience and a virtual race course for their yearly 5km erg test.

Organiser Eric Murray watched on as Nathan Flannery prevailed in the New Zealand men's team’s yearly 5km ergo test at the National Indoor Rowing Championships today in Cambridge.

The championships pitted the likes of 16-year-old Beckie Leigh, who set a world record last year, against Olympian Emma Twigg.

Murray owns a few world records himself but he watched the current NZ men's team, who had an audience and a virtual race course.

Michael Brake led for nearly all of the exhibition race but ran out of puff, beaten by Flannery, who equalled his personal best.
