Last group of Kiwi Olympians arrive back in NZ from Tokyo

The final charter flight from this year's Olympic Games landed in Christchurch before transporting those onboard to MIQ facilities.

The last charter flight to New Zealand from this year's Tokyo Olympics has landed in Christchurch this morning.

The Air New Zealand flight had Kiwi Olympians as well as NZOC staff and journalists on board with the 2020 Games concluding on Sunday evening.

The arriving party were welcomed back to Aotearoa by a picturesque view with snow-capped mountains and a clear sunrise on display.

Air New Zealand engineers added to the moment with flags on the tarmac to welcome back the team before they were transported to nearby buses to be taken to MIQ facilities around the city.

New Zealand finished with a record medal haul in Tokyo this year, earning 20 medals broken down into seven golds, six silvers and seven bronzes.
