Kiwi UFC fighter Dan Hooker takes a pummelling in brave loss to Edson Barboza

December 16, 2018

Kiwi UFC star Dan Hooker has lost his match against Edson Barboza at UFC Fight Night Milwaukee despite putting in a brave effort.

The number 14 ranked Hooker was under pressure from his number five ranked opponent from the start, with Barboza landing a number of devastating leg kicks on the Kiwi.

However, Hooker was able to take the punishment and nearly took advantage of a Barboza error in the second round as both men hit the deck.

The Kiwi was able to get on top during the grapple but Barboza kicked out and once again took control when both men were back on their feet.

The commentators were clearly impressed with Hooker's bravery calling him an "absolute warrior" as Barboza pummeled him with punches and kicks in the third round.

A massive kick to the solar plexus eventually took the wind out of Hooker and Barboza finished him off mid-way through the third round.
