Kiwi teen sprinting star Eddie Osei-Nketia yet to decide allegiance ahead of Oceania Champs

May 3, 2019

The 17-year-old hasn't made his choice between NZ Athletics and Australia.

Kiwi teen sprinting star Eddie Osei-Nketia has chosen to put athletics first ahead of rugby, but hasn't made his mind up as to who he will race for between New Zealand and Australia.

The 17-year-old's manager Mark Keddell says he is still having conversation with Athletics New Zealand and Australia to work out what is best for his client.

"Had the first meetings yesterday and it was never a decision time yesterday," said Keddell.

"It was just 'hey we are keen to make things work here' and just got to get the right support packages around Eddie and his family.

"He's a special talent."

New Zealand track and field officials want the 97kg Eddie to compete in June's Oceania Championships in Townsville.
