Kiwi para cyclist Eltje Malzbender has taken out the Women's T1 Road Race at the UCI Para Cycling Roach World Championships in the Netherlands, despite crashing on the final lap.
Malzbender, 57, held a 48-second lead over Canada's Shelley Gautier before crashing in the dying stages of the 22.2-kilometre race.
However, the Te Awamutu rider wasn't going to be beaten, getting back on her bike to win with a time of 51.46, her second world title of the week after taking out the time trial.
Malzbender's crash saw her with a cracked tooth and needing stitches after the race.
"Eltje's ride was just so gutsy, the course doesn't suit trikes at all with the camber of the road and its technicality of the roads," NZ Para Cycling Performance head coach Stuart McDonald said.
Elsewhere, Stephen Hills capped off the Kiwi efforts with a bronze medal in the men's T2 Road Race.
