'I just want to f*** everyone up' - Israel Adesanya plays down Conor McGregor comparisons

March 13, 2019

The Kiwi-Nigerian will face Kelvin Gastelum for the middleweight belt.

Kiwi-Nigerian MMA fighter Israel Adesanya has played down comparisons to the legendary Conor McGregor, following his rapid rise in the UFC.

Having wrapped up five wins from five attempts since his UFC debut, Adesanya has quickly become one of mixed martial arts' hottest properties, with his outspoken nature earning comparisons to former champion McGregor.

Speaking to the MMA Hour though, 29-year old Adesanya refuted any similarities between himself and the Irish firebrand.

"[McGregor] is on his own journey, I'm on my own journey," he said.

"I just want to f*** everyone up. I'm not a f***ing asshole or a dick or anything, unless they deserve it.

I just want to fight and be remembered as the best, who fought everyone and beat them. Then the money, the numbers, the records, they all chase me."

Adesanya's taste with the UFC isn't showing any signs of slowing down either, with the self-dubbed 'Last Stylebender' to fight Kelvin Gastelum on April 14 for the interim middleweight title.
