Joseph Parker sacrificing cravings for Kiwi pie to stay in shape for boxing comeback - 'Training starts tomorrow!'

April 4, 2018

Parker said he doesn't want to waste the condition he has gotten his body into.

Joseph Parker may be in relaxation mode, but he's not about to sacrifice the hard work he's put in to get his body in peak condition for a world title fight.

Parker, labelled the "Pie King" by his British rival Anthony Joshua prior to their unification bout in Cardiff on Sunday, told reporters today after touching down in New Zealand he would forgo his traditional Kiwi pie after a fight in order to stay in shape.

"Training starts tomorrow.

"I'm gonna go for a run. Now that I'm in good shape, I don't want to waste it.

"I always want to have a pie after the fight but now that I'm in good shape, [I don't want to]."

Parker said he learned a lot from his bout with Joshua and vowed to come back stronger with discussions scheduled to take place in the next fortnight on where, when and who the Kiwi fighter would fight next.

"We'll be back stronger."
