'I'm so proud to come from Pongaroa' - re-called Black Sticks player Megan Hull ready for second shot

It will be a special day for the small Wairarapa town of Pongaroa on Sunday as one of their own, Megan Hull, lines up for the Black Sticks.

Hull, 22, who has four caps for the Black Sticks, has been re-called into the squad for the upcoming Pro League series.

"I think for me, coming from the Wairarapa, I'm so proud I come from there and come from Pongaroa," said Hull.

"It's just a huge privilege to represent [my family] and hopefully a few people will watching, that would be nice."

Hull played her last game for the Black Sticks at the end of 2016 and questioned weather she would get another shot in the black uniform.

"I guess you do go through moments, is it going to happen, is it for me but I think I'm really lucky, I've got an incredible family who support me through the highs and the lows," she said.

"At the end of the day to for me it's a lot about having fun and enjoyment to, I think if I have all those things around it's pretty happy."

However, once the announcement was made she had to double check the e-mail as she didn’t quite believe it.

"I think I was like, 'does that say Megan Hull?', I wasn't sure but it's a huge privilege."

The Black Sticks come up against the Netherlands on Sunday in their opening Pro League clash in North Harbour.

The Dutch are ranked number one in the world while New Zealand are currently ranked sixth.

"It is a really exciting opportunity and more so embracing the challenge, they are number one for a reason, but I also think it is a real cool opportunity for our us here on our home turf."
