"The first option is Lucas Browne of Australia, he's a former world number one," said Higgins.

"That will obviously be a massive trans-Tasman rivalry. We've been in a few talks now for a few weeks with his promoters."

After defeating Andy Ruiz last year in December to claim the WBO belt, Parker's camp has been working closely with Ruiz's promoter Bob Arum.

"Another option we have is Bob Arum our promotional partner gave me a phone call a couple of weeks ago saying he's got a business association in China - who is very solid operator," said Higgins,

"An American guy in China who does have credentials and money and they wanted to look at staging a heavyweight title fight out of China – Parker v Zhang Zhilei."

Higgins also said that there is an option to set up a bout with American fighter Bryant Jennings on March 10 Las Vegas.

Russian fighter Alexander Povetkin is also a possible opponent for Parker, with the fight potentially to be set up midway through 2018 .
