Hamish Bond crashes out of the Coromandel K2 bike race

Former Olympic rowing champion-turned cyclist Hamish Bond was leading the K2 bike race in the Coromandel but crashed at the 110km mark at the bottom of Kereta Hill.

He was seen getting into an ambulance, and was taken to Thames Hospital.

A spokesperson told 1 NEWS his injuries "weren’t serious."

Bond was leading the race by about 2-3 minutes.
