Eliza McCartney has confirmed she didn’t break any bones in her foot after she was forced to withdraw from the Diamond League event in Birmingham this morning with an injured heel.
McCartney was attempting to clear 4.2m with her second jump of the day when things went awry, and she landed heavily on the track near her take-off point.
She was able to walk away initially but was overcome by the pain and ice was applied to her left foot before she was taken to hospital for scans.
McCartney confirmed on Instagram that the injury was just bruising and she is planning on completing the season.
