'I declare war on you!' Deontay Wilder issues aggressive call-out to Anthony Joshua after blistering first-round KO

November 6, 2017

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was at his world-renowned trash-talking best after his first round knockout win yesterday, immediately taking aim at fellow heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua for a unification bout.

Wilder wasted no time in his post-fight ring interview, issuing his challenge to the British fighter after briskly dismantling Bermane Stiverne in the opening round with three knockdowns before the referee finally stepped in.

"I've been waiting on that fight for a long time now," Wilder told the worldwide audience watching. "I declare war upon you. Do you accept my challenge?

"I know I'm the champion, I know I'm the best. Are you up for the test?"

Yesterday's win at the Barclay Centre in Brooklyn was Wilder's sixth title defence and moved the American fighter to a career record of 39-0 with 38 knockouts.
