Conor McGregor handed one-month medical suspension after UFC 229 defeat

UFC star Conor McGregor has been handed a one-moth suspension, following his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov last weekend.

McGregor, 30, tapped out in the fourth round of Sunday's bout, before chaos ensued, with an all-in-brawl between both fighters' camps.

In a statement from the UFC, it was confirmed that McGregor is to be suspended for a month on medical grounds, in the wake of such a heavy defeat.

"Conor McGregor: Suspended until 6/11/18, no contact until 28/10/18," the statement read.

Medical suspension isn't unusual for someone who suffered as heavy a defeat as McGregor, who took several blows during the loss before eventually being choked out.
