'Call a witch doctor, do some juju' - Israel Adesanya unfazed by Anderson Silva training with former foe

Kiwi mixed martial arts star Israel Adesanya isn't letting former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva's antics get to him as he prepares for their fight at UFC 234 in Melbourne next month.

Silva has brought Glory kickboxing middleweight champion Alex Pereira into his training camp, to prepare for the February 10 bout.

Brazilian fighter Pereira defeated Adesanya twice in 2016 and 2017 in their kickboxing bouts.

"I don't know if it's clutching at straws but maybe any kind of advantage of warfare - like I said, what is he going to do?" asked Adesanya.

"Help you [Silva] train a right hook or left hook? I don't know. So yeah, do whatever you want - pray, f****** call a witch doctor, do some juju, whatever you can. Any edge you can get.

"I'm not really bothered."

Adesanya has a four-fight win streak in the UFC and is undefeated in 15 MMA bouts.

The 29-year-old believes his former foe Pereira is trying to cash in on his success after a breakout 2018 in the UFC.

"He [Pereira] beat me twice and now he's just trying to - cause I'm bigger than him now and no one knows who the f*** he is - so he trying to get some shine off of my shine," Adesanya said. "And to be honest, if he can get into the UFC and win two or three fights, I will have the belt by then.

"He can fight for the belt, but he is a nobody. No one cares about him, no one watches his fights. He's just trying to get in my spotlight."

Adesanya is ranked sixth in the middleweight division, but a win over Silva next month could lead to the Nigerian-born Kiwi fighter vying for the UFC middleweight title.

The current middleweight title holder is New Zealand-born fighter Robert Whitaker who is the headliner for UFC 234 Melbourne. He is set to fight US fighter Kelvin Gastelum.
