America's Cup: Dean Barker’s American Magic begin training on Waitematā Harbour

July 27, 2020

The America’s Cup team haven’t sailed in nearly five months since moving their base from the US.

America's Cup challengers American Magic have started training on Auckland's Waitematā Harbour.

New Zealand helmsman Dean Barker took the yacht out on the water for the first time this morning.

The team haven't sailed in nearly five months since they moved their base to Auckland from the US.

Magic’s boat Defiant put on a show in the Hauraki Gulf today, with plenty of contenders taking notice.

The other two challengers - Luna Ross and Team Ineos - are due here before December's Christmas Regatta.
