Oracle Team USA skipper Jimmy Spithill has suggested that he'll still be at the helm of his side when the America's Cup returns to Auckland in 2021.
Spithill oversaw a disastrous defence of the America's Cup in Bermuda earlier this year, outclassed in every way as Team New Zealand waltzed to an emphatic 7-1 victory margin to reclaim the Auld Mug.
In his new book, Chasing the Cup - My America's Cup Journey, Spithill gave the strongest hint yet that he plans to return to the helm of Team USA for the next cup challenge.
"I've just come off copping one of the biggest hidings of my life, but I ain't no feather duster," Spithill writes.
"The process goes on for some time but it is important, personally and as a group, I still believe more than ever that defeat is nothing but education."
Spithill also quashed any speculation that at age 38, he was past his best to compete at the top level.
"Personally, I've never judged someone when it comes to age, how they appear or where they come from."
