'After I knock him out I'll buy him a coffee' - Joseph Parker on Alexander Flores fight in Christchurch

December 12, 2018

The Mexican-American boxer said at today's press conference that he loves NZ coffee and has about 2-3 hot cups a day.

Joseph Parker teased his opponent Alexander Flores during today's press conference in Christchurch, revealing he'll treat the Mexican-American boxer to a hot cuppa after knocking him out.

Flores said that he will add a third loss to Parker's boxing record come Saturday and that he will be the first fighter to KO the Kiwi.

"I'm stopping Parker, like I said before, I'm stopping him," said Flores.

"He's not going to go 12 rounds. I love New Zealand, I love your guys' coffee. I have coffee about twice to three times a day."

Parker, 26, responded to Flores' remarks by saying they will both put on a show.

"Alexander looks like he is in good shape, he's confident and he's here to win," said Parker.

"But unfortunately I don't think that is going to happen. He says he is going to knock me out, I say I am going to knock him out.

"So we'll see who is going to do the talking in the ring."

Parker had media laughing after offering to buy Flores coffee after making his own prediction of how Saturday's fight will end.

The back-to-back Super Rugby champions applied some boxing techniques in their pre-season training at Round 12 Gym.

"For me, after I knock him out I'll buy him coffee, because he loves our coffee so much," he said.

Parker has lost his last two bouts, going down to Anthony Joshua by a points decision loss in April in Cardiff and by unanimous decision to Dillan Whyte in July in London.
