Silva fought back tears while thanking fans during the UFC 234 weigh-ins in Melbourne.

Brazilian mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva struggled to hold back tears at today's UFC 234 weigh-ins in Melbourne.

Both Silva, 43, and his Kiwi rival Israel Adeanya made weight for their upcoming middleweight [83.9kg] bout tomorrow at Rod Laver Arena.

Silva became emotional when addressing fans at the weigh ins in Melbourne, but managed to compose himself and thank them for their support.

"Thank you guys, thank you. You know I worked my entire life for this sport and I try to do my best," said Silva.

"I need to say thank you God for giving me one more time, the great opportunity to give a great show for you guys.

"Thank you so much Australia, thank you Dana [White]."

Adesanya, 29, visibly looked emotional as he addressed the Australian fans, but managed to keep it together.

"He's trying to make me cry, f*** him. First of all Melbourne what's up? Big shout out to everyone that paid, came through from all around the world to watch this show," said Adesanya.

"And a special shout out… he's trying to make me cry for real. Everyone from Auckland that came through I appreciate you.

"But ummm… 'breathe'… I don't give a f***, I'm a fan of this man, but just because I'm a fan doesn't mean you [Silva] can't catch these hands and elbow and feet and knee."

Silva hasn't fought in the UFC for almost two years. UFC president Dana White confirmed at a press conference yesterday that the winner out of Silva and Adesanya's fight will move onto getting a title shot.

"Tomorrow we are going to throw everything in the cage, we are going to have fun. I'll send him off in a nice way."
