'We've just got to get up' – Silver Ferns reflect on nail-biting loss to Australia

July 19, 2019

New Zealand lost a close contest 50-49 in Liverpool last night.

Beaten but not broken, the Silver Ferns can hold their heads high as they head into the Netball World Cup semi-finals, following last night's 50-49 defeat to Australia.

Having pushed the reigning world champions to the very end, the Ferns will now face the winner of England and South Africa in their semi-final in Liverpool.

Speaking to 1 NEWS after last night's loss, shooter Ameliaranne Ekenasio reflected on a tough loss to their fiercest rivals.

"We just can't give them an inch, or they'll take too much," Ekenasio said.

"We saw the score line blow out a little bit. We probably didn't adjust quick enough to everything that was going on out on court.

"I think we found it in the end, but it was just a little bit too late.

"Obviously we'd like to be in a different position, but this is the business end. We knew that these games were going to be tight no matter what, so we've just got to get up for it."

The Silver Ferns face either England or South Africa in their semi-final tomorrow night NZT.
