The Northern Stars have claimed honours in the ANZ Premiership's all-Auckland clash, taking a 55-49 victory over local rivals the Northern Mystics.
Coming into the clash third on the table, the Stars would have fancied their chances against the last placed Mystics, winless from their opening three matches.
The Stars' first quarter display would prove just that, taking a 16-8 lead, before an emphatic 28-17 advantage heading into halftime.
Maia Wilson was in lethal form inside the shooting circle for the Stars, sinking 40 from 48 attempts, backed up by Ellen Halpenny (11/16) and Charlee Hodges (four from six).
At three quarter time, the Stars' lead had again swollen, this time to 42-30, before a staunch final quarter from the Mystics at least gave the scoreline some credibility, taking the final spell with a 13-19 scoreline.
Mystics supporters were at least given a reason to be hopeful, with the performance of 17-year old debutant Grace Nweke - who shot 27 from 33 as her side fell to yet another loss.
The Stars will next face the unbeaten Central Pulse on Monday, while the Mystics are still in search of their first win, taking on the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic on Sunday afternoon.
