Noeline Taurua aiming to 'make beautiful music out on court' with Silver Ferns

Noeline Taurua says her successful experience coaching the Sunshine Coast Lightning in Australia will only help in her new role as Silver Ferns coach, which was confirmed today.

Having missed out on the Silver Ferns job three years ago, Taurua headed to Australia, where she would go on to claim back-to-back Netball Super League titles with the Lightning.

Speaking to 1 NEWS at her unveiling as coach this afternoon, Taurua spoke about how what she's learned in Australia will help the Silver Ferns recover from a disastrous past 10 months.

"I've been very lucky doing the things that I've done, being able to coach different people from different communities," she said.

"Going away - especially in the Australian environment - I've learned so much, probably more about myself.

"But also knowing that how I coach can also work with other people, and in a different environment.

"That's given me a lot of belief in what I do, and how I do it."

Taurua also says that her appointment alone won't be the catalyst for the Silver Ferns' return to the top, backing her players to return to winning ways.

"What I bring overall is just one piece to the puzzle."

"My job is working with others, and trying to bring the best out in others.

"Hopefully in that moment in time, we can put all that beautiful music out on court.

"Deep down in my heart, that's what it's all about - working with people."
