'Hopefully I didn’t offend anyone' - topless snap a bit of banter, says outgoing Steel star Wendy Frew

August 13, 2018

Southern Steel champion Wendy Frew hoped she hadn’t offended anyone with her topless photo as she returned to the deep south following her team’s stunning ANZ Premiership triumph over the Central Pulse.

Frew called the photo, which was inspired by All Blacks Sevens star Kurt Baker's snap after this year's World Cup win in San Francisco, a “bit of banter eh”.

The photo showed the retiring Steel captain sitting on the shoulders of a teammate carrying the trophy with two other teammates holding two netballs to cover her chest.

“Gina (Crampton) and the girls got peer pressured into that so hopefully I didn’t offend anyone,” she said.

“Definitely some celebrations, you can’t not, it was a good occasion, we had lots of family and friends up there so just embrace it.”

That’s me, I’m out,” Frew wrote as the caption on Instagram while tagging Baker.
