Kiwi rally driver Hayden Paddon has been dropped by his racing team for Rally Spain next month.
The Hyundai WRC team announced this morning they had "made an adjustment" to their crew for Rally de Espana with Norwegian driver Andreas Mikkelsen taking Paddon's place in the team for the event.
"All three of our existing crews will remain under contract but the specific driver line-up will differ in each of the remaining rounds of the season, details of which will be announced in due course," the team said in a statement.
It's been a tough year for Paddon who has suffered numerous technical and mechanical problems, prompting Hyundai to make a change as they chase the manufacturers title.
"We have lost ground in the Manufacturers’ Championship in recent rallies, so the difficult decision to adjust crews has been made in an effort to close the gap to M-Sport in the final three rounds."
Hyundai sit second on the Manufacturers' leaderboard on 261 points, 64 points behind M-Sport.
1 NEWS understands Paddon still has a chance to race for Hyundai in the final two events after the Spanish rally.
