Kiwi F1 driver Brendon Hartley penalised, set to make debut at the back of the grid at US Grand Prix

The Hartley family won't be in Texas however – they don't want to leave their customers in the lurch.

Kiwi Formula One driver Brendon Hartley is set to make is debut at the United States Grand Prix from the back of the grid due to engine penalties.

Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost spoke to Autosport , saying that the 27-year-old will "take a complete new power unit this weekend", a move that was decided by the team before Hartley was announced as their driver.

Tost also confirmed their team's other car will have the same changes in Mexico next weekend, with both cars running out of engine mileage before the end of the season.

Hartley is set to be penalised 30 places on the grid, which puts him right at the back of the pack.

The New Zealand driver is set to be the first Kiwi to race in F1 in 33 years.
