After 17-years behind the wheel, Gilmor believes next weekend is her best chance to win an elusive title.

After 17-years behind the wheel, Dunedin's Emma Gilmour insists next weekend is her best chance at winning an elusive New Zealand Rally title.

The series gets underway next weekend in Otago, with Gilmour confident her newly built Suzuki Swift cold be the answer.

"Yes this is the year for Emma Gilmour," said Gilmour.

"This is one of the big things we've changed [spoiler], it will create quite a bit of grip at the rear end of the car, which will mean we can go around the corners a bit faster."

In 2016 Gilmour finally won her first stage on the national circuit, next weekend she plans on winning her maiden NZ Rally title.
