Kiwi Brendon Hartley's Formula 1 career will continue for at least another week, after the Toro Rosso driver was confirmed to take part in the Mexican Grand Prix.
After a 13th placed finish at the US Grand Prix in Austin yesterday, Palmerston North native Hartley was selected ahead of Russia's Daniil Kvyat for next week's race in Mexico City.
Italian outfit Toro Rosso confirmed the news on Twitter, announcing that Hartley will partner France's Pierre Gasly for the race.
"Scuderia Toro Rosso's Driver Line-Up for the upcoming 2017 Mexican Grand Prix will be formed by the following pairing: Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley," they said.
Hartley's performance in yesterday's race in Austin clearly won him fans within Toro Rosso, with the Kiwi starting 19th on the grid, before jumping six places in the final standings.
The Palmerston North native finished 13 at the US Grand Prix in Austin this morning.
Speaking to 1 NEWS' US Correspondent Rebecca Wright after the race this morning, Hartley said that he had no idea whether or not he'd get another opportunity next week.
"Honestly, no," he said.
"Mexico's coming up pretty quickly, so I'm guessing if I do hear something it'll be fairly soon."
The Mexican Grand Prix takes place at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez track, beginning Monday October 30 at 8am NZT.
