Auckland go kart track where Kiwi IndyCar champ Scott Dixon learnt his trade closing down

It was the early hunting ground for some of New Zealand's best motorsport talents.

Think Supercars stars Scott McLaughlin, Shane van Gisbergen and Fabian Coulthard, Formula E ace Mitch Evans or the Cunningham brothers Wade and Mitch - not to mention IndyCars legend Scott Dixon.

But the Mt Wellington kart track - two years shy of its 60th birthday - is no more with the Auckland Council looking for a better return on its land.
