'I won't burn any bridge' – Shaun Johnson keeps door open for Warriors return

April 9, 2019

Cronulla Sharks five-eighth Shaun Johnson has kept the door open for a potential return to the Warriors, having left the club at the end of 2018.

Following a messy contract saga, Johnson and the Warriors parted ways at the end of last year, with the club's all-time leading point scorer quickly snapped up by the Cronulla Sharks on a three-year deal.

Speaking to Inside the NRL, Johnson was asked a fan-submitted question over any potential move back across the Tasman in the future.

"I won't burn any bridge," Johnson said.

"If the opportunity came, and it was the right thing to do, yeah I would [go back] - definitely."

Johnson however did clarify that he was more than happy in Cronulla, hoping to challenge for his first NRL premiership ring.

"I'm at the Sharks, I'm very happy. It's the best ever.

"[But] I've only got three years. You never know."

Johnson is hoping to be fit for the Sharks' next game against the Sydney Roosters, having sat out last weekend's loss to the Parramatta Eels with injury.
