Mate Ma'a Tonga star Manu Vatuvei has praised the fans for their support during last year's Rugby League World Cup and is confident they will turn out in force for their clash against the Kangaroos next month.
The NRL and New Zealand Rugby League confirmed this morning that Australia will take on Tonga in a rugby league Test on October 20 at Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland.
Vatuvei says he is excited to have the fixture in New Zealand.
"I'm happy that it is going to happen here in Auckland," said Vatuvei.
"I know once the news goes out, we'll be seeing a lot of Tongan flags on every car in South Auckland."
The former Kiwis winger said last year's World Cup was extra special due to the passionate support of the Mate Ma'a Tonga fans.
"They were the ones that made the World Cup successful," he said.
"It's not about the game, it's about the fans, the fans make the game successful.
"To have the Tongan community come out and support like that, sing songs and enjoy the game, makes the boys play harder."
The NZRL also confirmed today that Tonga will take on the Kiwis next year in a Test in June.
