'We'll see how he pulls up' - Blake Green in fitness race for Warriors-Cowboys clash

Warriors halfback Blake Green is in a race against time to prove his fitness for this weekend's clash with the North Queensland Cowboys, provisionally named in the team after missing last weekend's loss to the Rabbitohs.

Green, 32, was ruled out of the Warriors' 28-24 defeat on the Sunshine Coast, picking up a groin injury during the warm up to leave Peta Hiku partnering Chanel Harris-Tavita in the halves.

Hiku and Harris-Tavita trained yesterday as a halves pairing, although Green has been named to start Saturday night's match.

Speaking at training, coach Stephen Kearney says that Green's condition is being monitored, with the halfback to face a fitness test before his selection is confirmed.

"We're giving him an opportunity this week, it'll just depend on how he pulls up over the next couple of days," Kearney said.

"He's moving around today better but if I'm honest, I couldn't give you a clear indication today.

"We'll see how he pulls up over the next day or so."

Should Green be ruled out, Hiku will likely return to the halves with Gerard Beale taking up his place in the centres.
