Watch: Kiwis admit a love for Tongan league fans as it 'adds to the World Cup'

November 13, 2017

Mate Ma'a Tonga's supporters have stolen the show at this year's tournament says Joseph Tapine.

The Kiwis are enjoying the support of Tongan fans towards their team just as much as Mate Ma'a Tonga themselves, according to forward Joseph Tapine.

Tonga's supporters have stolen the show at this year's Rugby League World Cup, with huge crowds welcoming the team everywhere they go, including a sell out clash with the Kiwis in Hamilton last weekend - something that didn't go unnoticed by their opposition.

Speaking to media today, Tapine said that this year's World Cup wouldn't be the same without the Tongan supporters.

"It adds to the World Cup, I think," he said.

"We knew there'd be a loud crowd (in Hamilton), it's good to see the passion from both sides."
