Watch: Jason Taumalolo treated like a king as Mate Ma'a Tonga hit Christchurch

November 12, 2017

Everyone wanted a piece of the superstar forward as the team arrived in the Garden City.

Tonga forward Jason Taumalolo's hero status doesn't appear to be going anywhere any time soon, as the superstar was mobbed during his team's arrival at Christchurch Airport.

Mate Ma'a Tonga arrived in the Garden City this afternoon after their landmark win over Kiwis yesterday.

After a starring role in Mate Ma'a Tonga's historic victory over the Kiwis in Hamilton last night, Taumalolo was the man everyone wanted to see this afternoon.

People were riding on cars, playing music cheering and showing how proud they were of their team after the historic win.

Taumalolo said he didn’t want to tell Kiwis coach David Kidwell his decision to play for Tonga because he wasn’t completely sober at the time.

The wrecking ball forward was engulfed in a sea of fans coming out of the arrivals terminal shortly before 5pm today.
