Warriors select young halves trio for first pre-season hit out of 2019

February 19, 2019

Chanel Harris-Tavita and Hayze Perham have earned Roger Tuivasa-Sheck's approval.

The Warriors have named three young halves in their 23-man squad to face the Melbourne Storm in pre-season on Friday, as the club continues to find Shaun Johnson's replacement.

With just 11 of the 23 selected for Friday's clash in Geelong, coach Stephen Kearney will have a good look at his options for the upcoming NRL season.

The trio of Adam Keighran, Chanel Harris-Tavita and Hayze Perham will all play, as the Warriors look to see who will partner Blake Green in the halves ahead of their 2019 campaign.

Elsewhere, hooker Nathaniel Roache returns to the squad, having missed the entire 2018 season with injury.

Blake Ayshford, Isaiah Papali'i, Bunty Afoa, Jazz Tevaga, Sam Lisone and Ligi Sao are also among the 11 selected players for the clash.

The Warriors begin the 2019 NRL season against the Bulldogs at Mt Smart Stadium on March 16.

Warriors squad: Bunty Afoa, Tom Ale, Blake Ayshford, Lachlan Burr, Sam Cook, Neria Fomia, Patrick Herbert, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Adam Keighran, Sam Lisone, Sean Mulaney, Isaiah Papali'i, Hayze Perham, Api Pewhairangi, Adam Pompey, Nathaniel Roache, Chris Satae, Brody Tamarua, Jazz Tevaga, Paul Turner, Ligi Sao, Lewis Soosomea, Cole Waaka.
