South Sydney captain Greg Inglis is set to miss the opening two rounds of the NRL season after turning up 15kg overweight, according to reports.
Days ago, it was confirmed that the 32-year-old would miss the Indigenous All Stars exhibition match and South Sydney’s trials because of a flare up of a knee injury.
“They’re all saying, he will not be there, I spoke to Wayne (Bennett) about this, he won’t be there for round one or two because he’s 15 kilos over his playing weight,” Triple M reporter Ben Dobbin said on Sydney radio yesterday.
Inglis would miss the Rabbitohs’ round 1 clash with the Roosters on March 15 and then the round two clash against the Dragons if the report is true.
Souths’ captain has battled his weight previously, turning up at Souths overweight in 2011 after signing from the Melbourne Storm.
He later admitted he had binged on white bread and Coca-Cola during that offseason.
