Nathaniel Roache to be given 'every chance' to overcome back injury to face Panthers

May 14, 2019

The Warriors' hooker stocks are questionable with Roache and Jazz Tevaga missing training today.

The Warriors are giving injured hooker Nathaniel Roache as much time as possible to overcome a back injury in time for this Friday's clash with the Panthers in Penrith.

Roache picked up a back injury in the Warriors' 26-18 win over the Dragons on Saturday and didn't train today as a result.

But coach Stephen Kearney says the 23-year-old isn't scratched from Friday's contest yet.

"Nate hurt his back, as you know," Kearney said.

"Nate will get named and we'll give him every opportunity to play on Friday."

Kearney added the injury wasn't related to the serious injury in his back that saw him needing surgery on a lumbar disc and sidelined for the entire 2018 season.

"I don't have a crystal ball but we'll give him every chance - he's gotten better every day."

Fellow enforcer Jazz Tevaga also didn't train today but Kearney also played that injury down, saying he was just resting a "sore foot from Saturday".
