Tonga's Rugby League World Cup stars have spoken about choosing to play for the nation of their heritage at the tournament later this year, insisting that pride in the jersey is more important than any financial gain.
Speaking to 1 NEWS, the trio of Ata Hingano, Tui Lolohea and Sione Katoa spoke about honoring the sacrifices of their parents being a primary factor in playing for Tonga, ahead of Australia or New Zealand.
"Money doesn't come into it," Hingano said.
"It's all for the sacrifices our parents have made for us to be in the position that we're in today."
Katoa echoed Hingano's sentiments.
"All of our parents have sacrificed a lot for us to get our future."
"It's time to give back to the community."
