Kiwis captain Adam Blair wants to help Warriors 'get back on the right track'

Kiwis captain and new Warriors recruit Adam Blair insists he'll prove to be a valuable signing for the club, in the wake of questions over the length of his contract.

Blair, 31, signed a three year deal with the Warriors earlier this month after leaving the Brisbane Broncos at the end of the 2017 season.

It will see him play for the Auckland based NRL side until past the age of 34 into the 2020 season.

However, because of the physicality in the role that Blair plays as a forward, doubts have been raised over the longevity of the 39-Test international.

Speaking on Newstalk ZB today, Blair assured fans and teammates he's more than ready to step up for his new club.

"I do look after my body pretty well," he said.

"I've been very lucky throughout my career [with injuries] and I do make a lot of sacrifices throughout the year.

"If I keep doing those things, then 100 per cent I've got that left in me.

"I still love the game, I enjoy being challenged, those young players will bring that out of me, and I'm a competitor and I hate losing. If I challenge them, they challenge me."

Blair also said he wants to help the Warriors progress as a club, having not reached the NRL finals since tasting defeat in the 2011 Grand Final.

"There are risks in everything that we do as footballers and I wanted to make sure there was security for myself, my family, first and foremost... and I wanted to help the Warriors," he said.

"Coming from here, it has been a part of me since I left, and I wanted to help them get back on the right track."
