'I've grown up with him' - Kangaroos star relishing clash with teammate Joseph Manu

October 10, 2018

Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell will face his partner Manu in this weekend's trans-Tasman Test.

Kangaroos centre Latrell Mitchell is relishing the opportunity of facing off against Roosters teammate Joseph Manu, when the Kiwis host Australia this weekend.

As Mitchell and Manu formed the Roosters' centre pairing in their run to the 2018 NRL title, both youngsters have been rewarded with international call-ups, and will debut against one another at Mt Smart during this weekend's trans-Tasman triple header this weekend.

Speaking to media in Auckland today, Mitchell, 21, spoke on the prospect of lining up against - rather than alongside - fellow centre Manu.

"Obviously I'm proud of him," Mitchell began.

"I've grown up with him and played in the juniors and what not, come up through the system.

"To have a great season as well, for him, I know he'd be proud of himself, because I know how far he's come."

Mitchell also said that he won't be too unfamiliar with what Manu brings, with the pair squaring off against one another at Roosters training.

"We just go against each other every week, all year, every year.

"It's going to be a pretty special moment when we go up against each other this weekend."

The Kiwis face the Kangaroos as the finale of the trans-Tasman triple header this Saturday night.
