November 15, 2017

The Tongan wrecking ball says he has enjoyed giving back to the community on his visit to the city.

Tongan rugby league wrecking ball Andrew Fifita has spoken about his "special" relationship with Christchurch ahead of Tonga's Rugby League World Cup Quarter Final against Lebanon there on Saturday night.

Speaking to 1 NEWS at Tonga's training session today, Fifita said he has family in Christchurch and always enjoys visiting the city.

"I got my brother-in law here it's quite special every time I come back to Christchurch, last time I held a couple of seminars and got to play in a tournament.

"It's been phenomenal, every night I have been out with family," Fifita said.

The giant forward also showed his soft side talking about how he has enjoyed giving back while in Christchurch, having visited a youth centre to meet with the kids.

Tonga take on Lebanon in a Rugby League World Cup Quarter Final at Christchurch Stadium, Saturday, 5pm.

Fifita seemed confident about a Pacific Island all-star team joining the Four Nations competition.
