'I'm focused on the Kiwis' - Michael Maguire refuses to talk about why he turned down Manly

The Kiwis coach was linked with taking the vacant Sea Eagles job.

Kiwis coach Michael Maguire has reaffirmed his commitments to his role in charge of the New Zealand side, refusing to comment on turning down the vacant Manly Sea Eagles job.

Maguire, 44, took over as the Kiwis coach earlier this year, having achieved success at club level with the Wigan Warriors in the UK Super League, and the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL.

However, despite only being with the Kiwis a short time, Maguire has been linked with a number of high profile NRL jobs, with the likes of the Brisbane Broncos and Manly Sea Eagles reported to have been vying for his services.

Speaking at yesterday's Kiwis' media conference though, Maguire insisted that he isn't interested in leaving his current post.

"I'm focussed on the Kiwis," he began.

"I'm not going to get into that. I'm really here around what's very, very special to me.

"I'm very happy to talk about where we're going with the Kiwis team."

The Kiwis will face Australia at Mt Smart Stadium on Saturday as part of the trans-Tasman triple header.
