Former Kiwis rugby league coach Graham Lowe has urged David Kidwell to be strong in making his decision around the playing futures of Jesse Bromwich and Kevin Proctor, who stand accused of trying to buy cocaine outside a Canberra nightclub on Saturday morning.
Lowe, who coached the Kiwis in six Tests, suggested that Kidwell must show a no-tolerance attitude towards the pair - even though that will mean a weaker New Zealand side at this year's Rugby League World Cup.
"He needs to show that he's up to it," Lowe told 1 NEWS.
"If I was him, I'd be making a stand now and say 'I'm not considering these guys for the next World Cup'."
"We've got enough depth, he needs to show strength and leadership."
An announcement is expected later today to address the fate of both Bromwich and Proctor.
