'He keeps turning up' - Warriors hail rookie Chanel Harris-Tavita's hot run of form

August 14, 2019

The rookie half has shone in a starting role in recent weeks for the Warriors.

The Warriors have heralded the rise of young half Chanel Harris-Tavita, following his star turn in the club's recent fixtures.

Thrust into the starting half role against the Eels with Kodi Nikorima out injured, Harris-Tavita has been the Warriors' best player in their last three matches, starring with two tries in an otherwise insipid showing against the Raiders.

With Nikorima back in contention this week, Harris-Tavita has kept hold of the number six jersey, named to start this weekend's vital clash against the Roosters in Sydney.

Speaking to media today, captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck applauded 20-year-old Harris-Tavita's recent outings in the Warriors' side.

"The way he just stands up in moments, for a young player he keeps turning up," the captain said.

"He's out here practising. He's always wanting to learn and that's another thing that I enjoy watching. [He's] always putting his hand up to learn different things.

"He was in hooker a couple of weeks ago, he just turns up and does his job."

Coach Stephen Kearney also spoke of how impressed he was with the young half.

"He's come in and executed his job, which is what we wanted him to do," Kearney said.

"I though he came up with some good plays last week."
